The Slow Implosion and Appalling Cowardice of Andrew Scheer

For months Andrew Scheer has attacked Justin Trudeau like a bat out of hell.

Accusing him of being incompetent, corrupt, a crook, even a terrorist sympathizer.

The Con media let him and his Cons get away with it, and it has been a sordid spectacle that has badly damaged our democracy.

A reminder of the days when Stephen Harper played the same dirty game.

But now at last the ghastly Schmear is getting a taste of his own medicine.

Some of the dinosaurs in the Con media have turned on him.

With Conrad Yakaboski being the latest to accuse him of being totally useless, or a DUD.

Did Conservatives pick a dud?

The answer to this question will undoubtedly emerge in 2018 as Canadians either "get to know" Andrew Scheer or, as is just as likely the case, continue to ignore the federal Tory Leader's very existence. Either way, Conservatives may be looking for a replacement before 2019 arrives.

For a candidate who was supposed to be the down-to-earth antidote to the celebrity politician that is Justin Trudeau, Mr. Scheer only seems to confirm that bland usually doesn't work. It might sell in 1970s-era Ontario or Regina-Qu'Appelle, the sleepy Saskatchewan riding Mr. Scheer has represented since he was a 25-year-old. But the dimpled-doughboy shtick just isn't cutting it among Canadians.

Calling him a rube, a bore, a man who panders shamelessly to his bigot base. A leader more opportunistic than principled. A religious fanatic trapped in the past, who would lead Canadians back to the monstrous place called Harperland...

A loser who may need to be replaced, sooner rather than later.

I don't know if Mr. Scheer can grow in the job. But if I was a member of the Tory brain trust drafting a campaign strategy for the next election, I would not be counting on Mr. Scheer to deliver many new voters to the party. He might have been the best choice among a weak field of leadership candidates. But he does not have winner written anywhere on his face.

And as if that wasn't enough to flatten Scheer like a bolt out of the blue.

Then along came the bigot Beyak, to call him a damned LIAR.

Sen. Lynn Beyak denies that Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer asked her to remove letters from her Senate website supporting her view on the residential school system before kicking her out of caucus.

"Contrary to his statement, that he asked me to remove content and I refused, neither I nor my staff ever spoke with Andrew Scheer or anyone from his office, at any time," said Beyak in a statement Monday.

And make him look bad, or sad, or just pathetic. Again.

A senior Conservative source confirmed that neither Scheer, nor anyone from his office, spoke directly with Beyak about the letters.

A man either too cowardly to pick up the phone and expel Beyak from his caucus.

Or a man with a soft spot for bigots, like Ezra Levant, who he also took forever to dissasociate himself from.

Even though Levant's hate mongering Rebel is still publishing death threats aimed at Justin Trudeau.

Like this one the other day

And Scheer still sees nothing wrong in hiring Levant's close collaborator Hamish Marshall as the Con's campaign manager...

In the face of all this, and at a time when hate crimes are out of control, Scheer's cowardice couldn't be more obvious, or more appalling.

On Monday, Scheer's office said it wouldn't be responding to questions about Beyak's comments and referred reporters to last week's statement.

By failing to stand up for our Canadian values he has shown himself to be a religious fanatic and would be Trumpkin who would never do anything to alienate his racist base.

Which needless to say makes him unfit to be the leader of a Canadian political party, or heaven forbid, a Canadian Prime Minister.

As Yakaboski points out, the Con's biggest problem is that they are still Stephen Harper's Party...

There is a reason no big names stepped up to replace Mr. Harper. The former Tory leader and prime minister daunts his party, still.

Scheer and his Cons never learned their lesson, or understood what they did wrong.

And it will lead to their total destruction.

But in the meantime, we must make sure that bestial ignorance doesn't become our problem...

For we saw where Harper and his political thugs were willing to take this country.

And it must never happen again...

Scheer isn't doing a good job at all. They would be wise to replace him with Michelle Rempel.

But who would replace him. Remember the leadership debates ? A little car pulled up and out came a bunch of cons tripping over each others big long shoes and whacking each other with their big red noses. Tragically for the party, Harper has left them with nobody of substance, quality or wisdom.

We've got all the refugees and immigrants in the world. We've got gay marriage and trans rights. We throw billions at the Natives every year with little oversight. You have your equal gender cabinet. We have affirmative action in the work place. Women can have abortions. Conservatives will probably never be in power again the way demographics are going.

What more do you people want?

For what? Making a spoiled little rich boy uncomfortable?

Who can be surprised that Andrew Scheer like most bullies is a coward? A man too chicken to kick a loser like Beyak out of his caucus is not the kind of leader we need in these challenging times. What's he going to do pray the terrorists away?

anon 2:32 What is wrong with respecting all people and their right to be treated as equals? If the act of respecting others as humans terrifies you, perhaps you should seek help.

TL:DR People that ask why we have these protections, are why we need these protections.

Canada and the US have grown wealthy due to the influx of immigrants, not only in economic might, but also by the differences in culture we are exposed to. Every immigrant race has had problems with the races here before, due to fear and challenges that are forecast to happen, none of which actually comes about.

It appears you hate/dislike refugees, so perhaps the Western nations need to stop destabilizing the world. If you dislike immigration from poor, impoverished and war torn countries, , then work to help the development of poorer nations, for to raise the World out of poverty would cost far less than the wars Developed Nations currently fund or support. Boycott stores that have a policy of importing agriculture products from nations facing famine, and support the use of foreign aid into medical and healthcare education to help control disease and wasteful agricultural practices, rather than to subsidize your business interests or you ideology. People leave their nations due to dissatisfaction with opportunities, give them a reeason to stay.

First Nations councils receive money under treaties signed with the government, treaties that are actually underfunded and that are controlled by government oversight, and administrators. Accountants have to sign off on the government monies funded to the Councils, and some of the money that is earned by the reserves are held in trust by the government.

The Female Gender makes up slightly higher than 50% of the population, why on earth would a government not reflect this.

On Abortion, Why should anyone have a say over another's body. Would you be willing to support a law whereby a man, if after a one night stand and she got pregnant, a reasonable portion of his income until the child is 18, or would you think this is unreasonable. Forcing a woman into this situation to pay for both partner's mistakes, by denying her access to medically safe abortions, is what you advocate for the women, when you remove her choice of aborting or not.

I do not agree with affirmative action, but unfortunately it is necessary due to racial discrimination creating a need to protect minorities in the work place. If people ignored the differences that we use to classify those we feel superior the World would be happier, and affirmative action would not be needed, sometimes it does become clear that continuing attitudes make it necessary to achieve any form of equality.

Due to a series of bonehead mistakes the Conservative party of Canada suffered a catastrophic defeat in 1997. Rather than spend 3 or 4 election cycles in the wilderness rebuilding their brand name the idiots in charge found it more convenient to give it away to the Reform-A-Cons in exchange for a few hollow promises. It is now 4 going on 5 election cycles later and here we are. The idiots have moved on, the brand is still trying to pretend they are the new improved Coke but many Canadians are suspect of the slightly bitter after taste. The new batch of spin doctors are trying a different approach by marketing the party as a big beautiful shiny blue tent that welcomes conservatives of all stripes and once you are lured inside they will micro target what you want to hear. Thanks to the modern miracles of social media the strategy is comparable to a new Coke that can fine tune its sweetness immediately before consumption to suit the preference of the individual consumer. Not a bad strategy for a soft drink but government policy cannot be fine tuned to suit all individual preferences it can only be masked through dishonesty. People are starting to catch on and this is why some including the media are asking for policy statements. The problem is some of their members will find specific Con policy statements too bitter and others will demand more hemlock to kill the sweet taste. As a result they create a lot of distraction through public bluster and attacks on the opposition but little substance. Coke solved their branding problem by reintroducing Coke Classic and letting the New Coke fade away but unfortunately for Canadians it seems that the Reform-A-Cons have a strangle hold on the Conservative brand name and they will not go easily.

hi anon... Scheer is looking like a disaster on wheels, and I'm sure that Rempel would be a step in the right direction. However, it would be a very tiny step since she's not ready either. And I'm hoping that Scheer takes the Cons down with him...

Simon said...

hi rumleyfips...exactly, that's what I was trying to tell the reader above. Harper made the party in his own image, and made sure that there would be nobody that could challenge him as leader. And now the party is so shabby and so teabagger there is nobody left to save it...

Simon said...

hi Steve...you might think that Poilievre and Scheer might have the decency to apologize to Morneau after the way the slandered or schmeared him day after day for so long. But neither of them have a shred of decency, or an ounce of class, so don't hold your breath...

Simon said...

hi anon 3:16 PM...as I just told Steve, Cons have no decency or class, and clearly neither do you. But of course the good news is that by acting like that you only disgust most Canadians, which helps explain why that little rich boy is probably going to be Prime Minister for a long long time...

Hi UU4077... I could never understand Cons like Keith Barnes, they are too ignorant and bestial and I don't speak Grunt. But I have at least five or six death threats of his in my files, and if the RCMP ever need any evidence to arrest him, I'll be only too happy to oblige...

hi anon 2:32 pm...I'm glad you recognize some of the many way progressives have made this country a better place. And that as soon as the millennial generation takes over there will be no going back. But there is so much more to do to make Canada an even better place, and only the total destruction of the Cons can guarantee that there will be no turning back...

Simon said...

Hi Filcher...thank you for sparing me from giving that Con a longer answer to his question, and for doing such a great job. I'm still recovering from the flu, so I just didn't have the energy. But what strikes me more and more, is that our Cons have no dreams of their own, they exist only to destroy. And people and parties like that only end up destroying themselves...

Simon said...

hi RT...good analysis. I also think that the biggest mistake the Cons made was trying to micro market to Canadians, or forever seeking wedge issues to divide them. For what it cost the was any sense of vision about the society they were trying to create. Their platform became so reactionary and so poisonous, they were not able to inspire anyone beyond their base, and ended up poisoning themselves. It will take a massive cultural revolution to undo the damage they have done to themselves, and I don't see any signs that will happen, at least not for a long long time...

hi anon 4:45pm...As I said in my post, I can't decide whether Scheer is a coward, or a miserable racist who shares Beyak's views, or both. But one thing is for sure, you can't pray the terrorists or any other threat away, and he is totally unfit to be a Canadian Prime Minister...
